Competitor stories
There are as many stories as there are competitors. Over the years, thousands of young people have participated in Taitaja, the Finnish Championship of vocational skills, and in international vocational skills competitions. Here are some examples of their paths and stories.
Max Miettunen
Max Miettunen, who is studying at Omnia to become a property manager, talks about his studies and working in a family business. Max competed in the Taitaja2024 competition in Property Management and won gold in his skill. In addition, he was awarded as Taitajien Taitaja (Best of Taitaja), the highest title in the competition.
Saga Naumanen
Saga studied the Vocational Qualification in Media and Visual Expression at Luovi Vocational College. As part of her studies, she participated in the Abilympics Metz 2023 competition for professionals with disabilities. Saga won gold in the category Character Design and was selected as the Best of Nation.
Viljami Turve
Viljami Turve from Tampere Vocational College Tredu won gold in Plumbing and Heating at the Taitaja2023 competition in Espoo and was also selected as Taitajien Taitaja. Viljami also participated in the competition in 2022, winning silver in his own skill.
Inka Myyryläinen
Inka Myyryläinen from Salpaus Further Education won gold in Health and Social Care at the Taitaja2022 competition held in Pori. She was also selected as Taitajien Taitaja, to represent vocational education and promote related competition activities for the following year.
Noora Salo
Noora Salo won gold in Visual Sales in the Taitaja2021 competition held in Oulu. She was also selected as Taitajien Taitaja from all the gold medallists. Noora has completed a Bachelor of Business Administration at the Perho Business College concurrently with her matriculation examination.
Joonatan Kivelä
Joonatan Kivelä won bronze in Electronics at the EuroSkills 2018 competition in Budapest.
Kaisla Heimala
Kaisla Heimala represented Finland in the EuroSkills 2018 competition in Budapest and won bronze in Cooking.
Aino Takala
Aino Takala represented Finland in the EuroSkills 2018 competition in Budapest and won bronze in Health and Social Care.
Josefiina Kivero
Josefiina Kivero won gold in Floristry at the EuroSkills 2018 competition in Budapest.
Samu Lahti
Samu Lahti participated in the WorldSkills 2017 competition in Abu Dhabi and the EuroSkills 2018 competition in Budapest as part of the Finnish team. In Budapest, he won bronze in Industrial Control.
