Skills Finland and AMKE are jointly organizing a discussion event titled "Seeking Solutions to the Skills Shortage – Vocational Dreams vs. Reality." The event will take place at Porin SuomiAreena on the City Hall stage on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM.

To solve the skills shortage, we need all hands on deck. More than half of the demand for skills is aimed at professionals with vocational education. The individual paths offered by Finnish vocational education provide opportunities for everyone, including those who need special support and top experts. Three students who have chosen different paths challenge vocational education and labor market experts to remove obstacles to their professional dreams.

The expert panel includes Member of Parliament Nasima Razmyar (SDP), Skills Finland CEO Maria Ekroth, CEO Pekka Ekberg from Fiblon Oy, and Joint Municipal Authority Director Matti Isokallio from Sataedu.

The experts will be challenged by Abilympics gold medalist Saga Naumanen from Luovi Vocational College, business management graduate and NY entrepreneur Joseph Munyandamutsa from Tavastia Vocational College, and adult automotive student Kristiina Hellsten from Sataedu.

The discussion will be moderated by Veli-Matti Lamppu from AMKE.
