Teija Ripattila is standing for the Board of WorldSkills International

Teija Ripattila, Chief Training Manager of Skills Finland, has been nominated for a position on the WorldSkills International (WSI) Board. The member countries of the association will vote on the new composition of the Board at the WSI General Assembly in France on 9 September 2024.

Teija Ripattila is standing for one of the two Strategic Development Committee positions available on the WorldSkills International Board. In addition to her candidacy, there are three other candidates for the role.Teija_Ripattila.jpg

Simultaneously, elections will be held for the positions of President and the Competition Committee. The new composition of the Board will be determined at the WorldSkills General Assembly, which will be held in conjunction with the WorldSkills Lyon 2024 event on 9 September 2024. WorldSkills International, the organisation behind the global WorldSkills competitions, comprises 88 member countries.

Teija Ripattila serves as the Chief Training Manager at Skills Finland and acts as Finland’s Official Delegate at EuroSkills competitions. She has also frequently served as the Team Leader of Team Finland in WorldSkills competitions. Ripattila brings 25 years of experience in vocational education and 13 years in skills competitions.

Since 2011, Ripattila has held various roles at different levels within the Taitaja, EuroSkills, WorldSkills, and Abilympics competitions, where she has been instrumental in promoting vocational education and training young competitors to achieve top performances. Additionally, she served on the Board of WorldSkills Europe from 2014 to 2023, with her last two years as Chair of the Board.

“I am passionate about the mission of WSI and believe that the organisation has a significant impact on vocational education and young people worldwide. The work of WorldSkills is highly regarded in Finland, and Skills Finland is actively committed to the organisation’s development”, says Teija.

“As the Chief Training Manager at Skills Finland, I lead a network of over 100 professionals who train Finland’s national team for international skills competitions. Furthermore, I have had the opportunity to work directly with young people as the Team Leader in WorldSkills competitions. My experiences have provided me with extensive knowledge of how WorldSkills operates on both national and global levels. They have also sharpened my ability to manage complex projects, lead teams, and develop strategies that align with the organisation's goals”, she continues.
