National skills competition Taitaja2019 in Joensuu, Finland

Taitaja is the largest single annual vocational education and training event in Finland which gathers tens of thousands of spectators. This year the event will be held in Eastern Finland in the city of Joensuu from 20 to 23 May. The event takes place in Joensuu Arena and its surroundings.

The event starts on May 20th with the opening ceremony, continues with three competition days and ends with the closing ceremony on Thursday May 23rd.

The event is organized annually by Skills Finland with the local VET provider, this year North Karelia municipal education and training consortium Riveria. The competition for the Finnish championship includes 45 skills and almost 400 competitors.

In addition, there is TaitajaPLUS, a competition for students with special needs as well as Taitaja9, a handicraft competition for comprehensive school students.

Skills Finland organizes an international seminar Back to the future – VET answering to the skills needs at Taitaja on May 22nd from 9 to 12.30.
