The board of Skills Finland has appointed a rewards committee that annually selects the Skills Actor of the Year from our extensive network. The award is given every other year for contributions to national and international competition activities.

Previous Award Winners:

2022: Business College Helsinki for its active involvement in the national skills comeptition Taitaja.
2023: The Ameo network for vocational special education institutions, recognised for its active participation in the international Abilympics activities.
2024: Brahe Vocational Education Centre for its engagement in Titaja activities and the BraheSkills school competition.

Focus for 2025: international competition activities

This year, we want to reward efforts that, for example, meet the following criteria, considering that competition activities are a tool for developing the quality and attractiveness of education:

  • The activities are not dependent on a single person, but involve the entire community and may even be part of the institution’s strategy.
  • They benefit multiple students, not just the competitor selected for Finland’s national team.
  • They enable participation from teachers and students from other institutions and provide benefits to the entire industry.
  • They have a well-planned financial structure that does not rely solely on the institution’s resources.
  • They offer companies the opportunity to participate in training, creating added value for them.
  • They enhance the status and attractiveness of vocational education, for example, through media attention.

The Skills Finland Rewards Committee will decide on the recipient of the award:
