We are participating in the Vocational Skills Block at Educa

Nine vocational institutions, Skills Finland, and OAJ’s vocational teachers will be present at the Vocational Skills Block in Educa. The block features its own Osaava stage, where visitors can learn about success stories in vocational education and training.

Educa will take place at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre on January 24–25, 2025. Last year marked the first appearance of vocational education stakeholders at the Vocational Skills Block, and the concept will continue this year.

Participants in the Vocational Skills Block include Ammattiopisto Live, Ammattiopisto Luovi, Ammattiopisto Spesia, Eduko, Ekami, Hämeen Ammatti-instituutti, Kiipulan Ammattiopisto, the Southwest Häme Education Consortium, OAJ’s vocational teachers, Skills Finland, and the Diaconia College of Finland. Each organization will have its own booth within the block. Additionally, the Osaava stage will feature 1–2 presentations from each participant.

Skills Finland’s booth, 6f91, will showcase Taitaja2025 Turku, with the logistics simulator as a highlight. We will also present two programs on the Osaava stage:

Using Skills Competitions as a Teaching Tool
Saturday, 12:45–1:15 PM
Skills competitions are an inspiring teaching tool for educators and a pathway to top-level expertise for vocational students. For lower secondary school students, the lively and playful Taitaja9 competition introduces different professions. Speakers: Sari Mäenpää (Skills Finland), Petri Hörkkö (Taitaja2025), and Janne Suntio (Construction Industry Federation).

From Special Strengths to Top Expertise through Competitions
Saturday, 2:15–3:00 PM
Skills competitions help students achieve excellence in their respective fields. These competitions offer professional growth and confidence, even for students needing special support. For educators, they serve as pedagogical tools for enhancing their own skills. Participants include Executive Director Maria Ekroth (Skills Finland), Head of Education Anu Kilkku (Ammattiopisto Live), Development Director Petteri Ora (Kiipulan Ammattiopisto), Vocational Special Needs Teacher Jussi Väisänen (Ammattiopisto Luovi), and Communications Manager Katja Katajamäki (Skills Finland).
